Arlen Rundvall is a writer, speaker, musician and mental health advocate, whose mission is to use his creativity, tenacity, and experience to inspire and lead others toward better mental health.
Arlen works contracts as a Workplace Safety Advisor where he speaks to inspire a safer workplace.
At the beginning of his grade twelve year, Arlen’s brother and father died nine days apart. He did not get the help he needed at the time with grieving. He eventually spiralled into ill-health.
In his twenties, Arlen was hospitalized many times in the Psychiatric Ward. He has since learned ways to maintain health and stay out of the hospital. He has developed healthy pursuits to stay grounded. Arlen was a youth group leader and wilderness guide.
He threw himself into being a singer-songwriter and released two full length albums: Not Always and Face the Wind. He also released his first single: Christmas in the Psych Ward. Arlen wrote and published The Bipolar Guide to the Gift and Fracture: A Memoir.
Arlen is part of the online community of support for those who face mental health challenges.
His website and the Bipolar Guide Facebook page has helped many people. Arlen has a Youtube Channel with his music, speaking and the complimentary audiobook, The Bipolar Guide to the Gift.
Arlen inspires hope and courage to face the challenges in life.
